Biography
Ann Dasen is a Costume Designer and Make-up Artist. She is the Costume Designer of the mainstage theatre and dance season at Central Michigan University, as well as the faculty of costume and make-up related courses. She holds a Master of Fine Arts in Costume Design & Technology from Michigan State University. Ann’s areas of interest and continued practice focus on SFX make-up and integrating non-traditional technology, such as sound and light, into costume designs. Ann’s use of electroluminescent lighting in dance costuming was featured in Eric Limarenko’s film, Waiting in the Rain. She hopes to continue this work as well as exploring other new technologies in her designs.
Ann collaborates frequently with an interdisciplinary group of colleagues that bring to life new works of dance, composition and science. The group consists of choreographer Heather Trommer-Beardslee, composer Jay Batzner, and biologist Wiline Pangle. These works have been featured as part of presentations with the Regeneration Dance Festival of Detroit, the Great Lakes College Music Society Annual Conference, National Dance Educators Organization Conference, and Electroacoustic Barn Dance.
