Wilson, Margarita
Biography
Margo Wilson has been with CMU since the Fall of 2020. She first began her higher education career as a graduate assistant in the Educational Leadership Department at CMU, while also pursuing her Educational Leadership Doctoral degree. She is now a fixed-term faculty member at CMU's English and Literature Department and a doctoral candidate. She hopes to defend her dissertation in May of 2025. Her dissertation topic is The Teacher's Perspective of SEL Program Implementation in K-5 Schools and its Effect on Teachers' Social-emotional Competencies and Ability to Create a Pro-social Classroom Environment.
Before her higher education journey, Margo was an elementary teacher for 15 years, 11 of which were at Mt. Pleasant Public Schools. During her elementary teaching career, Margo served on the Writing and Science district committees, where she helped make curriculum decisions, helped develop curriculum and assessment guides, as well as professional development.

- Social-emotional learning for K-5 students and teachers in educational settings.
- Building student-teacher relationships in elementary classrooms.
- Literacy instruction and practices in K-5 schools.
