Awad, Mohamed

POST DOCTORAL RESEARCHER

Biography

Dr. Mohamed S. Gaballah earned his Bachelor's degree in Agricultural and Bio-systems Engineering from Alexandria University (Egypt, 2011) and his M.Sc. in 2016. He obtained his Ph.D. in Engineering from China Agricultural University (2023). His doctoral research concentrated on the detection and removal of veterinary antibiotics from wastewaters and their implications for bioenergy production.

Upon completing his Ph.D., Dr. Gaballah joined Central Michigan University as a postdoctoral fellow and now holds a position as a Fixed-term Teaching Instructor. His research expertise includes the use of constructed wetlands for water treatment, understanding the fate and transport of antibiotics, and addressing microplastic contamination in aquatic ecosystems. He is dedicated to developing sustainable solutions for water quality challenges through a combination of laboratory experiments, field-scale projects, and data analysis.

Prior to his academic career, Dr. Gaballah worked as a researcher in Egypt, engaging in environmental consulting projects focused on water management and pollutant removal. His professional experience spans constructed wetlands, wastewater treatment, and renewable energy projects, including biogas production from animal waste. At Central Michigan University, he continues to contribute significantly to both research and teaching in the field of environmental engineering.
