Cwiek, Patricia

Mrs. Patricia Cwiek, RN, BSN, MA, earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from the University of Michigan and her master’s degree in Counselor Education from St. Louis University. She has over 20 years of healthcare experience as a clinician, manager, and educator at various healthcare settings including the University of Michigan Medical Center, Oakwood Hospital, the Detroit Medical Center, the McLaren Health System, St. Louis University Medical Center, and the Mercy Health Care System. Her nursing experience spans a variety of areas such as general medicine, oncology, long-term care, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, orthopedics, and inpatient substance abuse. She has held management positions as a Charge Nurse and as a Clinical Nurse Manager for General Surgery at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She has served as an in-house educator for St. Louis University Hospital and St. Joseph Mercy Hospital where she developed and taught management education for nursing leaders. Mrs. Cwiek’s counseling experience includes couples counseling, career counseling, adolescent substance abuse counseling and work as a family therapist. She has also provided consulting services to various hospitals, health systems and business on developing effective teams and identifying barriers to effective function using the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, and has worked with schools, churches, work units and student organizations to develop strategic plans for growth and success. 

Mrs. Cwiek is the founding Director of the CMU Health Professions Residential College, a position that she has held for over two decades, and whose program has produced students who have gone on to successful professional practice in the healthcare arena, including physicians, dentists, physical therapists, physician assistants, hospital administrators and many others. She is a faculty member of The Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow College of Health Professions, and an advisor for healthcare students. She is happily married to husband, Mark, and has four adult children.
