Biography
Stephanie Mathson was appointed as a tenure-track Assistant Professor and Instruction & Reference librarian at Central Michigan University in January 2005. She earned two Bachelor of Arts degrees (English & Anthropology) form Michigan State University, a Master of Library & Information Science degree from Wayne State University, and a Master of Arts degree in English Language & Literature from CMU.
Ms. Mathson earned tenure in 2010 and a promotion to Associate Professor in 2014. Over time, her primary responsibilities changed, and she is now the Education Librarian and Coordinator of the Library Research & Instruction Services department in the University Library.
Ms. Mathson is active professionally, having co-chaired the national LOEX Conference in 2014 and chaired the inaugural Michigan Academic Library Association (MiALA) Conference in 2016. She also served as MiALA’s first Vice President and second President (2015-2018).
Ms. Mathson has wide-ranging research interests. Her early publications focused on information literacy and library technology. Currently, she is engaged in research centered on Open Access (OA) journals in Education and is at work on a follow-up study related to one of the first articles she published.
