Biography
Tammy received her bachelors and masters degrees in nursing from Michigan State University. She has American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (CFNP), Internationally Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and former Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE). Women’s health and public health has been her practicing interests in providing care to women and families in hospital, public health, and outpatient settings. Most recently Tammy was instrumental in the establishment of an outpatient hospital-based lactation clinic seeing moms and babies for lactation assistance both after delivery and outpatient; and establishing a rural mom’s lactation support group. Academically, Ms. Ashley has been a department coordinator of allied health and a nursing adjunct faculty at several universities as well as a past writer and editor for various books. Non-professionally, Tammy is active in her township and county to improve and maintain the rural environment while providing opportunities for broadband, improving park facilities and planning walking trails. Ms. Ashley lives on a sequential-centennial farm, with her husband Ted, has four grown children and five granddaughters. In her free time, she enjoys Bikram yoga, gardening, cooking and outdoor sports.
