Army ROTC overview
Army ROTC (Reserve Officers Training Corps) is the best leadership course in the country and is part of your college curriculum. During class and field training, you will learn firsthand what it takes to lead others, motivate groups and how to conduct missions as an officer in the Army. Additionally, we are proud to offer an academic minor in military science and leadership that is open to all CMU students without an obligation for military service. As an Army ROTC cadet, you can:
- Earn a full-tuition scholarship: If you’re interested in becoming a commissioned officer in the United States Army, you may qualify for two-, three-, or four-year full-tuition scholarships.
- Become a leader in the Army: As the ultimate embodiment of "Army Strong," commissioned officers lead soldiers through every mission, honing essential leadership skills.
- Receive a commission: Upon completing Army ROTC alongside your academic degree, you’ll earn a commission as an officer in the United States Army, donning the coveted gold bars of a second lieutenant.
- Gain global experience with Cadet Leader Training: During your junior year, you’ll visit military installations around the world, gaining hands-on leadership training in real military environments.

Fund your future with Army ROTC scholarships
Central Michigan University’s Army ROTC offers two-, three-, and four-year full-tuition scholarships for students seeking a U.S. Army commission, plus textbook and living stipends. Qualifying freshmen can also receive the USACC National Scholarship Incentive Award to cover additional tuition and fees.
