Move-in/move-out
Keep yourself informed of dates and other details about moving in and out of your on-campus residence.
Spring 2025 move-out
The residence halls and apartments close promptly at 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 10.
- You will receive an email to your CMICH account in late-March with detailed information about preparing for spring move-out.
Fall 2025 move-in
The fall 2025 move-in schedule is as follows:
- IMPACT - Sunday, Aug. 17
- Leadership Safari - Tuesday, Aug. 19
- First-year and transfer students - Friday, Aug. 22
- Returning and apartment residents - Saturday, Aug. 23 or Sunday, Aug. 24
Students will receive an email to their CMICH account by 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 8, with how to sign up for a move-in appointment.

*The East Community (Celani, Emmons, Fabiano, Herrig, Saxe and Woldt) remains open during Thanksgiving, semester and spring break periods. Dining units and markets are closed. There are kitchenettes located in each residence hall and microwaves are available throughout.
Break closure information
The residence halls in the South and Towers communities and CMU Dining Operations close for the three major university breaks – Thanksgiving, semester and spring break periods.
The East Community Halls and Graduate Apartments remain open during these break periods. CMU Dining operations are closed. There are kitchenettes available throughout the East Community.
Thanksgiving break
The residence halls in South and Towers communities close promptly at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 27, and will reopen at noon on Sunday, Dec. 1.
Check out instructions will be provided to residents in multiple ways including in writing on their living unit door/distributed by paraprofessional staff members and formal communication from Residence Hall Directors. The last resident in the room to leave MUST checkout with a staff member. Please follow the checkout instructions to ensure you and your roommate(s) check out properly.
The East Community Halls (Celani, Emmons, Fabiano, Herrig, Saxe and Woldt) and Graduate Housing apartments remain open during break. The dining units and markets will be closed. Kitchenettes are available throughout the East Community.You must sign up through this link by 9 a.m.on Wednesday, Nov. 27, if you plan to be in your East Community Hall or Graduate Housing apartment at any point over Thanksgiving Break.This is a safety and security effort and allows us to ensure your ID card has necessary access.
Dine & Connect in East Community will close at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 27. The Eatery in the Towers Community and Food Hall in South Community will be closed on Wednesday, Nov. 27. Towers and East markets will reopen at noon on Sunday, Dec. 1. Dining units will resume regular operations on Monday, Dec. 2. For the most up-to-date information on hours of operation and menu changes, visit CMU dining.
Semester break
The residence halls in the South and Towers communities close promptly at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14. The residence halls will reopen at 9 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 12
The East Community halls and Graduate Housing remain open during the break. You will receive an email with details for preparing for semester break in early-December.
Spring break
The residence halls in the South and Towers communities close promptly at noon on Saturday, March 8. The halls will reopen at noon on Sunday, March 16.
Please follow the instructions you are provided by your Residence Life staff member to check out properly. This process will be similar to the semester break checkout. Complete all items on the checklist; clean the bathroom(s), remove trash, close and lock windows, turn the thermostat to the appropriate setting, remove items from the floor, unplug all electronics (except for the refrigerator and fish tanks), turn off lights and close the curtains, change any delivery addresses to your home address, close and lock the doors and sign/date your check out sheet. The last resident to leave the room MUST check out with a Residence Life staff member. If you have any questions about your semester checkout, please get in touch with your paraprofessional staff member (Resident Assistant, Inclusion Assistant, Community Council Advisor) or Residence Hall Director.
The East Community Halls (Celani, Emmons, Fabiano, Herrig, Saxe and Woldt) and Graduate Housing apartments remain open for residents of those communities during Spring Break. The dining units and markets will be closed. Kitchenettes are available throughout the East Community. You must sign up through this link if you plan to stay in East campus or Graduate Housing over the semester break. After you submit your form, please select "save my response to edit" which will allow you to make changes to the form as needed. This is a safety and security effort and allows us to ensure your ID card has the necessary access.
Summer housing
Summer housing is available to students taking at least one summer class during each session.
Summer housing is available in Fabiano hall and the Graduate Housing apartments. The summer 2025 housing application opens at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, March 18.

Payments
Summer charges will go on the June statement due July 1.
Payments made after 5 p.m. EST are not effective until the following business day. Payments must be received by 5 p.m. on a payment due date or will be considered late and fees may apply.
To pay by electronic check or credit card, log into Centrallink at https://centrallink.cmich.edu/ using your global ID and password and select View/Pay my Bill. Checks made payable to Central Michigan University will be sent to: Central Michigan University, OneCentral, Bovee University Center 119, Mount Pleasant, MI 48859. Please be sure to include the student's name and ID number.
Cancellation information
To cancel your summer housing contract, please email reslife@cmich.edu. Cancellation of the Summer I housing contract after Friday, May 9, will result in a $75 cancellation fee. Cancellation of the Summer II housing contract after Friday, June 20, will result in a $75 cancellation fee.
