Apply for Housing: Returning Students
Welcome back! Let's get you set up for the coming semesters.
- Log in to the housing portal.
- Sign your housing contract.
- Start your housing application. This includes selecting a meal plan and finding roommates.
- Select your housing assignment.
- Submit your first housing payment by May 1, 2025.
2025-2026 housing sign-up
For 2025-2026 academic year: Housing sign-up begins on January 21, 2025 for current residents. The window for priority selection closes at 11:59 p.m. on April 1, 2025. Check your cmich.edu email in early-January for details about your sign-in process.
Returning students have the first pick for housing selection – this window closes on April 30, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. After this, incoming students will be able to select housing.

Apply online according to this schedule:
- Tuesday, Jan. 21 at 9 a.m. through Friday, Jan. 24 at 11:59 p.m.: Returning to the same room.
- Tuesday, Jan. 28 at 9 a.m. through Wednesday, Jan. 29 at 11:59 p.m.: Priority selection for students who are outside of the CMU Residency Requirement (link to the requirement page).
- Thursday, Jan. 30 at 9 a.m. through Friday, Jan. 31 at 11:59 p.m.: Returning to the same residence hall, different room.
- Tuesday, Feb. 4 at 9 a.m. through 11:59 p.m.: Open selection for singles in Cobb Hall (sixth, seventh and eighth floors).
- Wednesday, Feb. 5 at 9 a.m. through 11:59 p.m.: Open selection for space in Campbell, Fabiano or Kesseler.
- Thursday, Feb. 6 at 9 a.m. through 11:59 p.m.: Open selection for space in Carey Hall (the seventh and eighth floors are for incoming first-year students).
- Friday, Feb. 7 at 9 a.m. through 11:59 p.m.: Open selection for two-person suites in Cobb, Troutman and Wheeler.
- Tuesday, Feb. 11 at 9 a.m. through Monday, March 31 at 11:59 p.m.: Open selection for all remaining spaces.
- Tuesday, March 18 at 9 a.m.: Wishlist* opens. Students may sign up for the Wishlist if they want to request a housing option other than their selected choice. Students must have a housing assignment to sign up on the Wishlist and will be contacted by phone if we are able to accommodate their request.

- Tuesday, Jan. 21 at 9 a.m. through Friday, Jan. 24 at 11:59 p.m.: Returning to the same unit.
- Tuesday, Feb. 4 at 9 a.m. through Monday, March 31 at 11:59 p.m.: Returning to the same community, different unit.
- Tuesday, March 18 at 9 a.m.: Wishlist* opens. Students may sign up for the Wishlist if they want to request a housing option other than their selected choice. Students must have a housing assignment to sign up on the Wishlist and will be contacted by phone if we are able to accommodate their request.
*What is Wishlist? The Wishlist is for students who did not receive the housing of their choice and would like to submit a request to change housing if their desired location becomes available. In order to submit a Wishlist request, you must already have a housing assignment.

FAQs about returning to student housing
When is the deadline to apply for housing?
There is no deadline to apply for housing. However, returning students have priority selection over incoming students through 11:59 p.m. on April 1, 2025.
How do I make my housing payment?
To pay by elecronic check or credit card, log into QuikPAY using your global ID and password and select "Make a payment."

What are your gender inclusive options?
The Office of Residence Life, the Office of LGBTQ Services and Gender Equity Programs, and the
Office of Institutional Diversity, Equity and Inclusion are dedicated to providing residents a
comfortable, educational, diverse and caring community for all students, including those
whose gender identity and/or expression differs from the sex assigned to them at birth.

What if I don't have someone I want to live with next year?
If you do not have preferred roommates, not to worry! Many students decide to select their
housing based on where they want to live, and they will receive roommates looking for that
same location. If you wish to search for roommates, the housing application has two ways to
find roommates.
Suggested Roommates:This will list other students who have a 2024-2025 housing application. The list will show the percentage you have in common based on the lifestyle questionnaire you filled out in the housing
application.
Roommate Search by Details:This allows you to search for friends that you want to live with.
Can I have my own room?
A very limited number of rooms have been designated for single occupancy. These rooms are contracted at the single room rate of one and one-half times the regular room rate.
We have four premium halls (Campbell, Celani, Fabiano and Kesseler) that offer four individual
bedrooms, two bathrooms, common space and air conditioning. These halls have a premium room rate.
We offer singles in Cobb Hall, sixth, seventh and eighth floors. These rooms include a
full-size bed, desk and desk chair, couch and coffee table. Singles in Cobb Hall have a premium room rate.
Can I have my current living unit again next year?
Your sign-up time will begin Tuesday, Jan. 21,and you will have until Friday, Jan. 24 at 11:59 p.m. to return to your same unit for the 2025-2026 academic year.
The seventh and eighth floors of Carey Hall will be reserved for incoming first-year students.
Current residents of Carey Hall on these floors will need to select a different room in Carey or a
different community. Kulhavi Hall is a first-year only community.
Current residents of Kulhavi Hall will need to select a
space in Campbell, Fabiano or Kesseler beginning at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 7, or any other
available housing according to the schedule.
Am I allowed to live at home as a second-year student?
If you live within 60-miles and will be commuting from your parent/guardian’s home or
if you are entirely online (not Hy-Flex or Hybrid), you may complete a Residency Exemption Request form to request to be released from your residency requirement.
Will summer housing be available for students?
The Office of Residence Life provides housing in select residential facilities during the summer
for enrolled students. You will receive an email after spring break regarding summer housing
options.
