Welcome to Saxe Hall

Saxe Hall, part of our East Community, provides four-person suite-style living that include two bedrooms, a shared bathroom and a common area for studying or spending time with friends. Conveniently located near the Student Activity Center, Saxe Hall connects you to both academic and recreational opportunities. East Community halls, including Saxe, remain open during Thanksgiving, semester and spring breaks, offering housing during breaks for students who need it.

Cost per semester* $3,139.00

Please note that this rate covers housing only. Students are also required to select a meal plan, which will determine the total cost of housing and dining for the semester. Room rates for the 2025-2026 academic year will be announced after the CMU Board of Trustees approves them in the spring of 2025. Stay tuned for updates on next year’s rates and meal plans.

Saxe Hall features

Each room features:

  • Twin-XL bed: Each resident has a Twin-XL bed (36”W x 80”L) with options to bunk, raise (up to 32” of under-bed storage) or loft.
  • Dresser: Each bedroom includes a dresser with six drawers (30.25"W x 20.25"D x 48.25"H) for storage.
  • Desk and chair: Each resident has a desk (38"W x 24"D x 30.5"H) and comfortable desk chair for organized study space.
  • Closet: Closet space (6'W x 2'6"D) in each bedroom for your personal belongings.
  • Internet: Convenient Wi-Fi access with Ethernet connectivity.
  • Shower curtain and window curtains: Every suite includes essential shower and window curtains.

Residence hall includes:

  • Access to kitchenettes: Each floor provides kitchenettes, allowing residents to prepare meals or snacks as needed.
  • Accessible accommodations: Options are available to support residents with specific accessibility needs.
  • Air conditioning available: Select halls offer air conditioned suites for added comfort.
  • Home to first-year, returning and transfer students: Our community welcomes first-year, returning and transfer students, offering a supportive and inclusive environment to live and learn together.
  • Co-ed community: This hall offers co-ed living with single-sex suites for privacy and comfort.

    • Central location: Conveniently located near the Student Activity Center, McGuirk Arena and Kelly/Shorts Stadium.
    • Residential dining at Dine & Connect: Enjoy an all-you-care-to-eat dining experience located within the community, featuring a variety of food stations and open 7 days a week.
    • The Market at Woldt: Offers grab-and-go snacks, beverages and more. Pizza King and FujiSan Sushi are also served at this location.
    • East Success Center: Located in the Saxe-Herrig-Celani lobby, the Success Center offers support from a Care Advocate and an assistant director of Residence Life.
    • Fitness center: Enjoy convenient access to a fitness center located just steps from your residence hall.
    • Break housing: East Community halls remain open during Thanksgiving, semester and spring breaks.
