At CMU, we want to make sure that every student is supported throughout their time here. With both on-campus and off-campus connections, we're committed to helping you succeed. While this is not an exhaustive list, the following resources can provide you with the immediate help that you may need.

      Conflict and complaints

        The Student Ombuds Office welcomes all students to speak openly about any university-related question, concern or challenge. You can contact the office when you have questions about where to go and who to talk to about different issues, when you are experiencing challenges, or to brainstorm possible solutions. We can discuss your situation and work together to consider your next steps, and whether you want to take them. Our conversations are private, and you will be empowered to make informed decisions about how you want to move forward.

          Diversity, equity and inclusion

            The CSID provides a safe space that nurtures learning and the achievement of personal and educational goals through cultural enrichment, peer tutoring, mentoring, and leadership activities on campus. The CSID allows students a place to study and do homework, meet, hang out/relax, and access wireless internet.

            Multicultural Academic Student Services (MASS) is a comprehensive office, which provides academic, personal, social and cultural support to students.               First Impressions provides Central Michigan University students with free professional attire for interviews, job fairs, and other professional events. This resource helps students make a positive first impression in both their classrooms and careers. All CMU students are eligible to apply and can request clothing by filling out a request form and indicating why business attire is requested.

                Hunger and homelessness

                  Hunger and food insecurity affect thousands of individuals and families around the country every day. At CMU, as many as one in every three students may be experiencing hunger. The Student Food Pantry and meal swipe donation program support students who need a little extra help.

                    Offers free services, including:

                    Offers outpatient mental health services. Fees are adjusted on a sliding scale and range from $5 to $60 per session. The center does not bill insurance companies and cannot guarantee services will be reimbursed by a third-party payer.

                    Public safety

                      The Central Michigan University Police Department works in partnership with the entire campus community in order to maintain a safe and secure living and learning environment. The CMU Police Department is comprised of highly trained State of Michigan certified police officers who work collaboratively with our community and law enforcement partners from the Mount Pleasant Police Department, Michigan State Police, Isabella County Sheriff's Department, Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Police and the Shepherd Police Department.

                        Sexual misconduct, aggression and assault

                          OCRIE is for those looking for resources and options regarding harassment, discrimination, and sexual and gender-based misconduct. OCRIE investigates issues related to harassment, discrimination, and sexual and gender-based misconduct, including but not limited to dating violence, domestic violence, intimate partner violence, sexual assault, sexual exploitation, sexual harassment, stalking, and retaliation.
