Sign up for a training
New to the university or to your role? Training is a great place to start! Trainings are offered on a regular, monthly basis. Brand training is recommended for all collaborators. Registration closes for all training sessions 48 hours in advance. Sessions with less than 3 registrants may be subject to cancellation.
Brand training
Offered the second week of the month.
How do we tell the CMU story? The answer is with brand. Learn more about ‘We Do' and leave with writing and visual tools you can utilize right away.
New website collaborator training
Offered the third week of the month.
Your webpage is a first stop shop for information. We also offer training topics to help you enhance your skills using images, documents, forms, and optimizing your web pages to improve the user journey. Training for new website collaborators is required before you can work on web pages and content items.

News writing training
Offered the fourth week of the month.
If you’ve ever wanted to write a news-style story about something great at CMU, we’ll have you shouting, “Stop the presses” after one short session.

Advanced News Writing: The Art of Storytelling
Offered the fourth week of the month.
Prerequisite: Basic news writing training.
Advanced news writing and storytelling is for those who wish to build on the skills learned in our basic news writing training module. The session focuses on storytelling techniques to enhance news stories written for submission to the CMU website.

Media training
Throughout the year, and by request.
The thought of working with the media can be overwhelming. This interactive workshop helps faculty and staff learn how to feel comfortable and confident about amplifying their expertise while also raising CMU’s reputation. Offered twice per semester and upon request for individuals, teams or departments.
Social media training
Offered virtually
Social media training is available virtually at your own pace. Request to join our Teams group below and access recording trainings and discussions.
If you are onboarding a new social media manager please email socialmedia@cmich.edu with new manager's name, cmich ID and channels they are running.
