About CMU's "Explanation of requirements to obtain CMU Retiree status and its benefits policy"

This policy details which employees qualify for CMU Retiree status and the benefits that come with that status.

PURPOSE

Central Michigan University extends certain courtesies to employees who qualify for CMU Retiree status upon retirement. The University has defined specific criteria as listed below. This policy outlines the criteria to qualify for CMU Retiree status and the associated courtesies.

POLICY

1.0 Eligibility: CMU Retiree status is available to members of employee groups as noted:

Employee Group

Eligibility
Office ProfessionalTwenty-five (25) years of benefit eligible CMU service at any age
Police Officers 
Professional and AdministrativeTen(10) years of benefit eligible CMU service and at least age fifty-five (55)
Public Broadcasting 
Senior OfficerTen (10) years of benefit eligible CMU service at any age if totally and permanently disabled as determined by the Social Security Administration
 Sergeants 
Service Maintenance  
Supervisory/ Technical  
 Fixed Term Faculty 
Medical Faculty 
Regular Faculty  

2.0 CMU Retiree Courtesies: Certain courtesies are extended as determined by the President that might change from year to year.

2.1 Examples of courtesies which might be available to CMU Retirees include: free on-campus parking; campus ID card; tuition benefits for retiree only; library privileges; discounts on SAC/CHIP memberships.

Central Michigan University reserves the right to make exceptions to, modify or eliminate this policy and or its content. This document supersedes all previous policies, procedures or guidelines relative to this subject.
